What to Expect
Day 1: Welcome to our House!

Check in at 15:00 – Pacha Eco Lodge is located 3 hours from Quito, so you can arrive here either by bus ($7,00) or shared taxi ($20,00). Once here, we will set you up in your Pacha Room or in your glamping cabin, and then you can discover our self guided trails around the property.
We have two amazing trails inside the lodge where you will be able to walk barefoot and connect with the jungle, relax in our natural streams or refresh and swim in the Misahualli river.
Tonight an amazing welcome dinner will be waiting for you in our restaurant.

Day 2: Rafting in the amazon Jungle!

If you visit Ecuador, you can’t miss our full day rafting adventure to the to the Jatun Yacu River – Class III! This is one of the most amazing adventures you can do around here. If you haven’t rafted before, or if you want an exciting and very friendly whitewater experience, you can never go wrong with this river! “Jatun Yacu” means “Big Water” in Kichwa, so be prepared for huge waves, and lots of fun!

First, we will have a 50 min road trip in order to reach our Put In, Cando; a Kichwa Community located in the Llanganates National Park. This destination filled with mystery and legend, boasts some of the most beautiful landscape and grand biodiversity in the country. Even if the most exciting part of the trip is not being in the car, you will be able to appreciate a beautiful landscape during the road trip!

The adventure begins! After giving you all the proper and homologated rafting gear, and after receiving an orientation talk, we will be ready! The natural beauty you’ll be surrounded all day long and the adrenaline of this big water river will transform this trip in an unforgettable experience. While some parts of the river pump you full of energy, other parts are smooth and relaxing, allowing you to float down the river.

In the middle of our trip, we will stop in Shandia: a Kichwa community which is located in an island. Once we get there, we will play some fun games in the beautiful river beach. Also, you will be able to check and buy some amazing handicrafts and organic local chocolate. During this break, we will serve you a delicious lunch so you can recharge your energy for the rest of the activity! After this break, we will continue our trip for approx. 2 more hours. Fun is not over!
During the day, don’t forget to look back, the mountains behind the Jatun Yacu river will remind you why you are alive and why you decided to visit the jungle. We know that our IRF certifiedenthusiastic and professional guides will make out of this trip a memorable experience.

Day 3: Be ready for an awesome jungle trekking!

This morning starts early so we can get to 2200 meters on the Guacamayos mountains.
This trail is 14 kilometers all down hill and hides centuries of history. This very trail was the one that connected the highlands of the country with the amazon basin even before the Spanish arrive to what now is Ecuador. According to local legends, Rumiñahui, a general during the Inca Civil War, who after the death of Emperor Atahualpa, led the resistance against the Spanish in the northern part of the Inca Empire in 1533; hid the renowned treasure of Atahualpa or El Dorado in this region, and probably they went down to the amazon basin using this trail.

During this 14 kilometers we will descent about 2000 meters…this abrupt change of altitude will allow us to see different species of birds like Guacamayos, Oropendolas, Azulejas and more than 50 more species, Squirrels, Bears, Capuchino Monkeys, chichicos and more.
Even thought it’s all downhill in this trail the walk can be tiring so we will do several stops to snack, rest and refresh in natural Waterfalls along the trail.
Back at the Lodge a well deserved lunch will be waiting.
For this afternoon you can relax at the Lodge or book a massage to relax all those sore muscles.

Day 4: Natural pools and caves

For the last day we have a more relaxed but still active plan. Very close to the Lodge we will visit another shorter trail that takes us to a hidden cave and an amazing swimming hole.
Many of the caves in the area were the hiding places of the Kichwa communities when the Spanish arrive and started the conquer. Now they are considered sacred places for the Kichwas and we have the luck to discover this places with the real owners of the land.
