Highlights

If you are an adventurous and active person, this is the perfect trip for you! We can assure you that this tour will be one of the most memorable activities you can do in this beautiful country. Our full day rafting adventure in the Jondachi & Hollín rivers, will keep you amazed between the jungle landscape, the adrenaline, the class IV rapids, and being engulfed in bright green Amazonian vegetation and canyons.

Our full day expedition includes a jungle trek & guided visit to the “Gran Cañón del Jondachi” and a delicious Lunch!

What to Expect

First of all, as this is an isolated place, we’ll have to walk for 45 min in order to arrive to the starting point of our rafting adventure. This is why we hire people from the “Mondayacu” Community to carry all the gear down to the river.

Our first stop, after our fun jungle trek is the “Gran Cañón del Jondachi”: you will be amazed from the beginning of this trip! This is a rock formation of around 10 meters high with a waterfall and a beautiful natural lagoon in the middle of the jungle entrance; you are more that welcome to jump in and swim in these refreshing waters. We have included this visit simply due to the fact that it is an unmissable place!

After refreshing ourselves in the “Gran Cañón”, we can continue our way to start our rafting adventure. We’ll be starting our day with the Jondachi river, a very technical and isolated Class III+ river. In general, this is a crystal clear river, but everything depends on the rain! It is known as one of the most beautiful rivers in the world!

However, both rivers provide their own type of excitement. The Hollín river has more character with grander rapids, bigger water, and more adrenaline while also providing recovery pools for swimming and relaxing. Not to mention, all rivers that feed into these two rivers come in the form of waterfalls of all shapes and sizes.

We have to mention that the wildlife that may appear during this trip is wonderful! It is common to see river otters swimming around, birds of all kinds, and we can’t miss the petroglyphs. Just if you didn’t know, petroglyphs are images created by removing part of a rock surface by incising or abrading, as a form of rock art.

In the middle of our expedition, we will serve you a delicious lunch. We can eat, laugh and relax for a while on to the river shore. We know that our IRF certified (https://www.internationalrafting.com/), enthusiastic and professional guides will make this trip a memorable experience.

There are very few places on earth with the stunning scenery and level of biodiversity that can be seen in this 1 day expedition. We feel very lucky to have this amazing natural resources, and we would love to show this place to the world.

This is a perfect activity for kids over 14 years old, if you have kids under this age, you should probably check our Class III rafting trip to the Jatun Yacu river: https://kayakecuador.net/tour/rafting-jatunyacu-river/
