Swift Water-Rescue Course – ACA | 7 days: become a better paddler and explore Ecuador’s tropical rainforest! Gain skills and certification as a Whitewater Rescue Technician L4.

Learn from ACA certified guides the most important techniques to stay safe while in the river. The seven-day program includes; Airport Pickup/Dropoff (Quito), lodging in Pacha Ecolodge, 3 meals per day, rafting/or kayaking (depending on your skills), and your ACA SWRT Certification. Enjoy 7 days in the Amazon of Ecuador while becoming a Rescue Technician.

  • Boat nor personal gear. You will be responsible for bringing your own equipment (cataraft, raft, paddle cat, IK, SUP, or kayak) and personal gear (PFD, helmet, skirt, paddle). Boats and personal gear are available to rent locally at additional cost if you cannot bring your own equipment.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Swift Water-Rescue Course – ACA | 7 days

Pick up from Quito/Airport in the morning. Pacha Eco Lodge is located 3 hours from Quito. Once here, we will set you up in your room. Then you can discover our self guided trails around the property and get ready for lunch. Before dinner we will introduce the Instructors and Itinerary.

Day 2 - Swift Water-Rescue Course – ACA | 7 days

First Day on the water, today you will gain tools for rescues. We will start in easy rapids understanding and practicing; passive & aggressive swimming, rope rescues and wading skills. The main goal today is to feel safe and confortable swimming and moving around the river.

Day 3 - Swift Water-Rescue Course – ACA | 7 days

Second day on the water. Today we will start challenging ourselves in harder water and more complex situations. With the skills gained the first day we will go Rafting and use that knowledge to perform rescue scenarios on moving water. A delicious dinner will be waiting for us back at our Lodge.

Day 4 - Swift Water-Rescue Course – ACA | 7 days

Rigging Skills and Craft-Pins will be the focus today. Learning how to properly use a river rope and all the accessories to create advantage systems is essential. Be ready to play with ropes and knots in and out of the water for the whole day!

Day 5 - Swift Water-Rescue Course – ACA | 7 days

Rafting Again! Today We will go to a different river with bigger features that will allow us to use all the new skills we have developed. During the afternoon we will practice our rigging skills to be ready for the aseesment day.

Day 6 - Swift Water-Rescue Course – ACA | 7 days

Assessment Day. During the morning all students will be tested in the Misahualli river and during the afternoon we will go Rafting again to test those skills in a moving boat, moving water and in remote locations. Be ready for a long/challenging but fun day.

Day 7 - Swift Water-Rescue Course – ACA | 7 days

After our last delicious breakfast at Pacha, pack up your gear to get ready to travel back to Quito. A private van/truck will transport the group back to Quito/Airport.
