We’ll pick you up from Quito in the morning at 10:00am (note: no pickups from the Historical Center or Quito South). After a scenic 3-hour drive, you’ll settle into your room at Pacha Eco Lodge. Take some time to explore our self-guided trails around the property.
Enjoy a tasty local dish for lunch with fresh ingredients, then we’ll conduct a kayak selection and a safety briefing. To wrap up the day, join us for a welcome dinner at our restaurant.
After breakfast, we’ll take a 50-minute drive to Cando, a Kichwa community in Llanganates National Park.
This class III river features a mix of pool-drop and continuous sections, providing a great environment for refining your skills amidst stunning jungle scenery.
Return to the lodge for dinner and share your experiences with fellow paddlers.
Today, we’ll tackle the Misahuallí River, recognized for its thrilling Class III-IV rapids. This river offers a combination of continuous whitewater and notable drops, making it a favorite among experienced kayakers. We’ll take breaks to scout major features and discuss strategies for navigating the more challenging sections. After a full day on the water, we’ll return to the lodge for a well-deserved dinner.

Today involves a 45-minute hike to reach the starting point. Local guides from the Mondayacu Community will help carry gear down to the river.
Our journey begins at the Gran Cañón del Jondachi, where you can take a refreshing swim in the lagoon. The Jondachi features stunning waterfalls and challenging rapids, with a mix of pool-drop and continuous sections that provide a thrilling experience. The Hollín River will test your skills further with its infamous “Wafflemaker” rapid, also rated Class IV, known for its powerful hydraulics and dynamic features. After an adrenaline-filled day, we’ll head back to Archidona for dinner and reflect on the day’s paddling.
After breakfast, we’ll venture onto the Piatua River, which is classified as Class III-IV. This river is characterized by its continuous rapids and powerful features, making it a thrilling option for skilled kayakers. The Piatua flows through stunning landscapes, offering a unique paddling environment with plenty of opportunities to practice advanced techniques. In the evening, we’ll return to Tena for dinner and share our favorite moments from the day.
After breakfast, pack up and prepare for the journey back to Quito. Optional run today! We’ll stop at the Papallacta hot springs ($10.50/person) for a soak before continuing our drive.
We’ll drop you off at a hotel near the airport for your evening flight, so be sure to arrange your accommodation and transport. Safe travels, and we hope to see you again!

Climate and Environment Overview for Archidona, Napo, Ecuador
The climate in Archidona, located in the Amazon rainforest region of Ecuador, is typically tropical, characterized by high humidity and warm temperatures year-round.
Here are some key points about the climate:
– Temperature: Average daily temperatures range from 70°F to 90°F (21°C to 32°C). Nights can be cooler but rarely drop below 60°F (15°C).
– Humidity: The region experiences high humidity, often exceeding 80%, which can make the heat feel more intense.
– Rainfall: Ecuador’s wet season typically runs from **December to May**, with the heaviest rainfall occurring in March and April. However, due to climate change, the onset and duration of the rainy and dry seasons have become less predictable. This means that the dry season may start later or the wet season may extend, resulting in unexpected weather patterns.
– Dry Season: The dry season usually spans from **June to November**, although brief rain showers can still occur. The effects of climate change may cause irregularities in this pattern as well.
– Sun Exposure: The sun can be strong during the day, making sun protection essential, even during the wet season.
– First aid kit – Basic supplies for minor injuries.
To secure your reservation, a non-refundable and non-transferable deposit of $650 is required. Payment can be made via credit card or bank transfer. The full payment is due 60 days before the departure date.
Cancellation Policy
– If you cancel your trip at least six weeks (42 days) before the trip start date, you will receive a full refund minus your non-refundable and non-transferable deposit of $650. Written cancellation is required. You may find a qualified replacement for your spot. Please note that we cannot make exceptions for personal emergencies or health issues, as we lose the opportunity to sell that spot once your reservation is confirmed.
– For cancellations made 41 days or less before the check-in date, no refund will be issued, and changes to your reservation dates or rescheduling will not be permitted.
– Full refunds will be provided for trips that we cancel.
Policy for Changes in Tours and Programs
We reserve the right to alter or cancel any scheduled tour or program without prior notice in response to adverse weather conditions, unforeseen events, or circumstances beyond our control. In such cases, every effort will be made to reschedule the service, but a full refund is not guaranteed.
Assumption of Risk
By participating in tours and programs offered by Whitewater Kayak Ecuador, guests acknowledge and voluntarily accept all risks associated with such outdoor activities. They understand that they may be exposed to personal injury, loss of life, or property damage and agree not to make claims, sue, or expect financial compensation from Whitewater Kayak Ecuador for such occurrences.
All participants must follow the safety policies and procedures of Whitewater Kayak Ecuador and its guides. We reserve the right to deny participation to anyone engaging in conduct deemed unsafe or inappropriate by our guides. All participants must sign an agreement to assume all risks, a release of liability/agreement not to sue, and an agreement to indemnify in favor of Whitewater Kayak Ecuador.

For safety reasons, we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone at any time who poses a potential risk on the river, who is suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or who is deemed unfit to raft. We also reserve the right to alter your trip without an allowance of refund.
Rafting/kayaking is an activity with inherent and unavoidable risks, and we do not guarantee the safety of any person we take down the river. All participants are required to sign an assumption of risk/release of liability waiver. If you choose to come rafting, let it be known that you are doing so at your own risk.
Minors under the age of 18 must sign their own waiver in addition to having it signed by a parent or legal guardian. Children must be at least 4 years old and 50 lbs to ride down any of our Class II Trips and must be accompanied by a competent adult at the overlook. Children must be at least 7 years old and 100 lbs to raft through Class III. Children must be at least 14 years old and 120 lbs to raft through the Jondachi-Hollin rivers Class IV. We reserve the right to cancel your river trip without allowance of a refund if you violate or attempt to violate the minimum age and weight requirements. If the leader considers that one or several people cannot make the trip even if they meet the basic requirements (Essential Eligibility Criteria), their word is final, and the trip will be modified to guarantee the safety of our passengers.
Right of Admission
Whitewater Kayak Ecuador & Pacha Ecolodge reserves the right to refuse service or entry, without a refund, to any person posing a potential risk to the safety or welfare of the headquarters, other guests, guides, or our staff, or to those under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or who display disrespectful or suspicious behavior.
Guest Conduct
We expect all guests to maintain respectful and considerate behavior toward others, including staff, guides, instructors, and fellow guests during their stay. Any act of vandalism, excessive noise, or disturbance of the peace may result in immediate termination of the stay and, if necessary, intervention by competent authorities.
Bedding and Furniture Policy
We are committed to providing a clean and pristine environment for your stay. As such, any damage or stains found on bedding, curtains, or furniture, including walls, may result in additional charges. By booking with our establishment, you accept this condition.
Responsibility for Minors
Parents or legal guardians staying with minors assume full responsibility for supervising, maintaining order, and controlling the behavior of the minors during their stay, releasing Pacha Ecolodge from any liability arising from their care and conduct.

La experiencia en el kayak es única, se siente la adrenalina en todo momento, sobretodo en los rápidos del río. Durante todo el trayecto se disfruta de la naturaleza y el paisaje en general.
